6 best Design Buffs alternatives in 2026 (without the three-month minimum)

TABLE OF CONTENTS

TL;DR
Design Buffs sells design by the hour: $1,500 a month for 40 hours or $2,800 for 80, with a three-month minimum commitment. The best Design Buffs alternatives in 2026 run month to month instead.
- ✅ Best overall: ManyPixels from $699 a month, with web design, motion graphics and video editing on every plan, and a dedicated designer from $1,399.
- ⏱️ Closest like-for-like: Flocksy, 42 hours a month for $1,699 (or $1,199 billed annually), with unused hours rolling over for 30 days.
- 🛡️ Lowest-risk trial: Penji at $995, with a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first month.
- ⚠️ Design Buffs' pricing page says "no contracts", but its FAQ sets a three-month minimum. Your real first commitment is $4,500, not $1,500.
- ❌ Don't switch if you already pay yearly for steady work. At $30.95 an hour, Design Buffs' annual Essential rate is hard to beat.
Introduction
Most people searching for Design Buffs alternatives aren't unhappy with the design work. They're stuck on the terms. Design Buffs is a UK-based design subscription for B2B marketing teams, and its pricing page makes two promises that don't sit well together.
Near the top it says "Flexible subscription, no contracts, cancel/pause any time." Further down, the FAQ answers a different question: "The minimum commitment is three months." Both statements are on the same page.
That's the short version of why this list exists. Design Buffs is fairly priced per hour. It's the three-month minimum and the hour cap that send people looking. Every service below runs month to month, and four of them refund your first month if it isn't the right fit.
Every price here was read off live pricing pages on 22 October 2026, with every billing toggle clicked. For a wider view of the market, our guide to design subscription services compares plans on scope.
What does Design Buffs cost in 2026?
Design Buffs has two plans. Essential costs $1,500 a month for 40 hours of design capacity, and Growth costs $2,800 a month for 80 hours. Quarterly and yearly billing lower the monthly rate. Webflow design and development is a separate $999-a-month add-on that requires a design plan, and every plan carries a three-month minimum commitment.
Two things on the page are out of date, and they matter if you're comparing quotes. Design Buffs' own comparison table lists its average cost as "$850, based on 20 hours per month", but there is no 20-hour plan on sale anymore. And older roundups still quote weekly plans at $199 and $350 a week, a structure that no longer exists either.
The real entry price for Design Buffs is $4,500: three months of the Essential plan, paid before you can cancel.
Why do people look for a Design Buffs alternative?
People leave Design Buffs for three reasons: the three-month minimum, turnaround that only gets faster on the more expensive plan, and websites that cost $999 a month extra. The design quality rarely comes up. It's the terms and the hour cap that push teams to compare.
1. The three-month minimum. According to the FAQ, after the first three months, monthly payers "can cancel, scale up, or scale down." Before that, you're committed. Of the six alternatives below, none has a minimum term.
2. Faster delivery costs double. Design Buffs publishes a delivery estimates guide that ties turnaround to your plan. Here's what it promises:
Okay, a caveat: that guide still lists the retired 20-hour Light plan, so treat it as a guide rather than a promise. But the pattern is clear. On Design Buffs, speed is something you buy more hours to get.
3. Websites are an add-on. Design Buffs lists landing page design as a capability, but Webflow development costs $999 a month on top of a design plan. That puts the cheapest way to get a site designed and built at $2,499 a month, or $7,497 over the three-month minimum.
What Design Buffs does well
To be fair, Design Buffs gets a lot right. Its hourly rate is low for a managed service: $37.50 on monthly Essential is cheaper than Flocksy's $40.45 for a similar 42 hours. Paid yearly, the rate drops to $30.95.
The B2B focus is real too. The capabilities list reads like a SaaS marketing team's backlog: social creative, presentation design, landing pages and motion design, plus free LinkedIn carousel and testimonial template packs. A WhatsApp chat on the site connects you to the founder, Carsten Pleiser. Design Buffs says it has delivered 10,337+ projects, and it runs client work through a ManyRequests client portal.
Bottomline: if your workload is steady and you're happy to commit for a year, Design Buffs is good value. The alternatives below are for teams that want to keep the option to leave.
We left out Designity ($5,995 a month for 120 hours, about twice Design Buffs' Growth price), Design Pickle (custom quotes only), and Superside and Designjoy, both priced well above this range.
The 6 best Design Buffs alternatives in 2026
1. ManyPixels: best overall, with no minimum term
{{GENERAL_PORTFOLIO="/dev/components"}}
Starting price: $699/month
Model: Daily output from a managed team, or a dedicated part-time designer
Turnaround: Next-day first drafts (same-day on dedicated plans)
ManyPixels doesn't sell hours. You get a daily output every business day: typically two or three social graphics, a logo draft, or the first pass of a landing page. Graphic design, web design, illustration, motion graphics and video editing are included on every plan, from the $699 Advanced plan up. You can cancel anytime or pause for $10 a month.
For Design Buffs users, the closest match is the $1,399 Assigned Designer plan: one part-time designer, same-day delivery and a Slack channel. 72% of ManyPixels customers choose a dedicated-designer plan, which tells you what most buyers want. The limitation is development: ManyPixels designs websites but doesn't build them in Webflow.
Best for: B2B teams that want a dedicated designer without signing up for three months ✅
Not ideal for: Teams that need Webflow builds handled by the same vendor ❌
2. Flocksy: the closest hour-for-hour swap

Starting price: 1,699/month(1,199 billed annually)
Model: Daily hours with a dedicated creative team
Turnaround: Same-day work within your daily hours
If you like Design Buffs' hours model and just want better terms, Flocksy is the direct swap. Two daily hours give you about 42 hours a month for $1,699 month to month, against Design Buffs' 40 hours for $1,500. Every minute is tracked in the portal, unused hours roll over for up to 30 days, and copywriting support is included on every plan.
The catch is price. Month to month, Flocksy works out at $40.45 an hour, against $37.50 at Design Buffs. Flocksy only becomes cheaper if you pay annually: $1,199 a month, or $28.55 an hour. On terms, though, it wins easily: no contract and a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Best for: Teams that want to keep paying for hours, with rollover and no lock-in ✅
Not ideal for: Price-led buyers paying month to month ❌
3. Penji: the lowest-risk first month

Starting price: $995/month
Model: Active workstreams with assigned creatives
Turnaround: 1 business day on Essentials
Penji is the cheapest way to test a switch. Essentials costs $995 a month for two active workstreams, which Penji equates to two to four hours of design a day. That covers branding, ads, social, email, print, packaging, presentations and illustration, with a one-day turnaround and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
The limit is scope. Web and landing page design, motion graphics and short-form video all start on the $1,995 Agency Partner plan. If your Design Buffs backlog is mostly landing pages and animated social content, budget for that tier, not Essentials.
Best for: Teams that want 30 days to test a new service with their money protected ✅
Not ideal for: Landing pages or motion work on the $995 plan ❌
Our Penji alternatives guide covers how Penji's tiers compare in more detail.
4. DotYeti: for teams tired of watching the clock

Starting price: $995/month
Model: Active projects with a dedicated pod, no hourly cap
Turnaround: 2 to 5 days on Base
DotYeti pitches itself as the opposite of an hours plan. Its pricing page says it doesn't meter hours: "A designer stays on a task until it's right." Base costs $995 for two active projects, covering graphic design, illustration, presentations and logos. It runs month to month, with a 14-day money-back guarantee.
The trade-off is the scope ladder. An art director, video ads and animated GIFs arrive on Scale at $1,595. Motion graphics, video editing, web design and copywriting arrive on Summit at $2,595, which is close to Design Buffs' Growth price. Base turnaround of two to five days is also slower than Design Buffs' Essential estimates.
Best for: Teams who'd rather not track hours on big, uneven projects ✅
Not ideal for: Motion or web work below $2,595 a month ❌
5. Renlar: the cheaper way to get sites built

Starting price: $895/month
Model: Active requests on separate design and web plans
Turnaround: 24 to 48 hours for graphics, 3 to 5 days for websites
Renlar solves the problem of Design Buffs' $999 add-on. Its $1,395 Websites & Development plan includes design plus Webflow, Framer or WordPress builds, with one active request at a time. That's $1,104 less than Design Buffs' $2,499 combination. The $895 Graphics & Video plan covers design, motion and video editing with two active requests.
The limitation is that Renlar splits capacity. Design and web work sit on separate plans until the $1,995 Bundle. Renlar is also built for agencies, with a white-label portal, so in-house teams pay for features they won't use. There's a 7-day money-back guarantee, and quarterly or annual billing saves 10% or 20%.
Best for: Teams whose backlog includes building landing pages and websites ✅
Not ideal for: Teams that send design and web work in the same week on a $895 budget ❌

6. Awesomic: a matched designer you can swap

Starting price: $1,799/month
Model: Matched part-time expert, with optional AI tools
Turnaround: Matched with a designer within 24 hours
Awesomic is the closest to Design Buffs' "your own designer" feel. The $1,799 Graphic Pack matches you with a part-time designer for ads, emails, packaging, print and everyday graphics, and you can ask for a different designer at no extra cost. You can cancel anytime, and your plan runs to the end of the month you paid for. Quarterly billing saves up to 19%.
Watch the scope. Website, UI/UX and no-code development sit on All-in-One at $3,219 a month, which is more than Design Buffs' Growth plan. Awesomic raised both expert plans this year, so older roundups listing $1,490 are out of date.
Best for: Startups that want one consistent designer and the freedom to swap them ✅
Not ideal for: Web or UI work on a budget under $3,219 a month ❌

How to choose a Design Buffs alternative
The right alternative depends on the reason you're leaving. Name the one that matters most to you, then match it:
- If the three-month minimum is the problem, then pick ManyPixels (cancel anytime from $699) or Penji (30-day refund). 👉
- If you like paying for hours but want rollover and no lock-in, then pick Flocksy, and pay annually if you can.
- If you need landing pages built, not just designed, then pick Renlar's $1,395 Websites & Development plan.
- If you want a dedicated designer for B2B work, then pick the ManyPixels Assigned Designer plan at $1,399. ✅
- If you pay Design Buffs yearly and the work is steady, then stay. $30.95 an hour is a good rate.
