Typeform is a great and easy-to-use tool for many marketers. But what is it, should you buy it for your lead generation campaigns, and what Typeform pricing package is best for you?

As an up-and-coming marketer, I regularly used Typeform over the past years, and it has been one of the simplest and most valuable tools. From registration forms for a conference to quick tests that help visitors calculate the cost of app design, or simply a Buzzfeed-style quiz to entertain and nurture the customers I tended to, I always found it incredibly useful and interesting to design in.

So, what’s Typeform again?

Basically, Typeform is a tool for designing quick contact forms, quizzes, online shopping and feedback forms, etc. you can use it for virtually anything, from job applications to donations, reporting issues to polls.

In the era of Covid-19, it can be easily used for knowledge checks, feedback from employees on monthly reviews, registration for online events and webinars, all the way to asking people if they want to be put on a waiting list for a product or service.

Judging by the all-star customers on the homepage, Typeform is used by the likes of Slack, Dollar Flight Club and Amplitude.

In any case, Typeform is very intuitive, simple to use, and to an extent, you can use it for free. The only catch is that there is a limited number of forms.

We’re here to help you decide which package is best for you and your business, or clients you’re working with as a freelance marketing team.

Free Typeform plan

To get a fish, you first need to throw a hook. That’s the case with Typeform too, as they have a free plan that is limiting, but perfect for the needs of a small business or learning more about the tool.

With a free plan, you can have:

  • Up to three typeforms
  • 10 questions per form
  • A limited number of responses per month
  • Mail alerts every time you get a response
  • Downloading your results in a spreadsheet
  • Templates
  • Embedding the form on your website
  • Basic data reports and metrics

There are also different types of questions you can ask in your form, such as a short question, long question, multiple-choice, picture choice, email, phone number, rating, opinion scale, etc.

As someone who has used the Typeform free plan for a long time, I can tell you that it is perfect for a small business marketing team, a focused research, or employee feedback about events and changes in the workplace.

Typeform packages and pricing

In case you need more metrics, better segmentation, unlimited responses and questions; embedding forms on websites, there are three different paid packages on Typeform.

Essentials: plenty of customizing options

The Essentials package comes at an affordable price of $35 a month or $30 dollars per month if you choose to be billed yearly in advance, and comes with a lot of benefits. For example, you get up to 1000 responses per month, unlimited typeforms and questions as well as more options for a detailed design and responses, and a complex scheme of the forms and quizzes.

Here are the more advanced design options:

  • 3 Logic Jumps per typeform
  • Calculator for quizzes and payments
  • Custom Thank You Screen
  • Multiple Thank You Screens
  • Schedule a close date

It also comes with the possibility to integrate the forms on Mailchimp and Airtable, choose a custom subdomain and get a custom link preview and schedule a date when the form should close automatically.

You can set up email notifications for the respondents and collect payments directly through the forms.

The Essentials Typeform pricing package is great if you are a freelance marketer working with multiple small businesses or startups, or a marketing team with a moderate number of clients.

It can also be fitting for a small business that works in eCommerce or has to check on customer satisfaction regularly.

Professional: better tracking and reporting

The Professional package costs $50 a month with a monthly payment plan, and 35 dollars per month if billed annually in advance.

It consists of everything that is included in the Essentials package, with extra features and integration options.

When it comes to design, the extra options are personalizing with Hidden Fields (passing information you already know in your typeform via the URL), closing embeds automatically when a responder completes it, and a custom closed message (choosing what a responder sees once they complete the form).

However, there are more and very useful integrations in the Professional package:

  • Facebook Pixel
  • Google Tag Manager
  • HubSpot Integration
  • The ability to redirect to a different URL after completion

If you are managing more than one marketing account or produce plenty of lead magnets at your company, you probably don’t want to waste the visits so you want to redirect visitors and track every lead. This package is much better in managing and nurturing the leads you get through your typeforms.

Premium: personal branding and team collaboration

The Premium package consists of all the aforementioned integrations, design customization and tracking options. However, at the price of $70 per month, or $59 if billed yearly in advance, you can completely remove the Typeform branding and collaborate with your team so you can work on one project together.

With the Premium package, you also get priority customer support and the ability to talk to a Typeform employee through a live chat.

Finally, it enables your forms to close automatically when you reach the limit of responses and advanced embedding options. Most importantly, you can use a Salesforce integration to send the data about your leads directly to Salesforce.

As it is a lot costlier than the other packages, this one is good for big companies that use Salesforce, and want only custom branding in all their forms.

Conclusion

Typeform is a great tool for lead generation, that is easy to comprehend and a fun time for a marketer to design in. Before this useful tool, complex quizzes and forms needed to be created and published by developers. But thanks to Typeform and its many integrations, a marketer with no knowledge of software development can create complex and beautifully designed forms thanks to the vast number of templates and customization options available.

As for the package that is best for you, I would recommend testing the waters with the free Typeform plan, or getting the Essentials plan for a monthly subscription. You can then learn how to use it and decide if it’s useful to you.
