If you want a stunning landing page that perfectly matches your brand and needs, here’s how you can get one without breaking the bank.
Lead generation is the process of gathering marketing contacts, or people that have somehow expressed an interest in your business. This might be people who have visited your website, read your blog or engaged with your posts on social media.
Lead generation is a hugely important part of any digital marketing strategy, as it allows you to market your products and services to people that actually might have a need or interest in purchasing them. However, many marketers consider lead generation one of their biggest challenges.
There are many ways to create a successful lead generation campaign, from creating great lead magnets (e.g. pieces of free content that people wish to download) to lead generation landing pages (e.g. online tools, such as keyword suggestion tools, calculators or quizzes).
In this post, we’ll suggest some ideas on where to get an affordable custom lead gen page.
Types of lead gen pages
Lead generation pages vary in content and complexity, so choosing the right page builder goes hand in hand with knowing what kind of page you want to create. A simple content download page might not require extensive customization options, but a product or free tool page means you need a much more powerful page builder (and perhaps even the help of a development team).

Here are the most common types of lead gen pages used by the best lead gen campaigns:
- Lead magnet download page: for longer pieces of content such as ebooks and guides
- Free trial page: from Netflix to leaders in the SaaS industry, people love the opportunity to try out a service before making a financial commitment.
- Online tools: from keyword suggestion tools and calculators to Hubspot’s great Make My Persona, useful online tools
- Webinars and other events: they’ve exploded in 2020, but the popularity of online events isn’t likely to drop anytime soon. So, whether you want people to learn about an event you’re hosting on—or offline, creating a sign-up page can be an awesome way to get traction and collect valuable marketing leads for the future.
- Quizzes: from discovering what type of bread you are, to something more useful like what kind of leader are you, quizzes can provide entertainment, but also valuable insight which makes them a particularly popular lead magnet
- Classes: If you have an expert on your team, consider creating a short online course (videos are always preferable) that people can sign up for in exchange for their email address or contact details. Of course, this is an especially useful tactic for B2B companies.
Best landing page builders
If you think a lead generation strategy is out of reach for your small business’ budget—think again! There are several landing page builders out there which allow you to create your own landing page for free or a very small fee. Here are some of our top picks.
You probably know that Wix is one of the most popular website builders on the market, thanks to its super easy drag and drop editor, tons of gorgeous templates and extensive customization options. Of course, it’s also possible to build a really great landing page with Wix.
While you can actually build your landing page for free (including some useful features like contact forms), you can’t have a custom domain without subscribing to one of their paid plans. However, you can do this for as little as $4,50 per month which is as good as free.
WIx offers full integration with many email marketing tools such as Mailchimp and Hubspot, which is super useful for running a lead generation landing page. Also, you can create a lead gen page from scratch or use the ADI (artificial design intelligence) option whereby Wix creates a page for you based on your needs and design preferences.
The biggest downside of Wix is simultaneously its biggest advantage: extensive customization options. Since you’re free to change literally every single design element on a landing page template, this might mean you have to tweak it and rework it in order to make it optimized for mobile devices.
While you should definitely consider Wix as an all-in-one solution for your website and landing pages, when it comes to lead gen tools, Leadpages is definitely one of the strongest contenders out there.
Leadpages has great templates predesigned for a specific type of lead generating page such as product page, ebook download, giveaway or webinar and free consultation pages. It allows you to build separate pages with a custom domain, or integrate with an existing WordPress site to add pop-ups, banners or alert boxes.
Lead capture landing page template by Leadpages
The biggest issue with Leadpages is the price point which is a bit higher than most similar online tools. The lowest plan starts at $25 per month billed annually.
Convert Kit scores high on user friendliness, and they claim you can create a landing page in under 10 minutes. Convert Kit allows you to create your landing page for free. However, if you want to use additional features such as email automation or integration with other tools and software, you’ll have to upgrade to a paid plan.
Convert Kit is one of the few tools that allows you to build as many landing pages as you want with the free plan. So it’s definitely worth testing out.
If anything web design related makes you feel a little uneasy, then the self-proclaimed “landing page builder built for non-programmers” just might be your cup of tea. Landigi landing page builder includes some handy features like A/B split testing and a payment gateway connection, which is very handy for product pages.
Landigi is really a great choice for beginners, as they have a really helpful blog section and plenty of articles on how to build a lead gen page with their tool. And the template designs are very hip and modern. Soo, what’s the catch?
Landigi is a bit more expensive than some of the other landing page builders. Their most affordable plan starts at $55 per month, while the most expensive, Agency plan costs $149 per month. That said, you can get a 14 days free trial which can work out in case you want to run a very short campaign.
You probably know it as an email automation tool, but Mailchimp also has a landing page builder that’s great for lead gen landing pages. The customization is limited, however if you’re already using Mailchimp suite, this might be a comfortable option to use.
The best part is that Mailchimp’s builder is another one that allows you to build as many landing pages as you want for free. It also scores high when it comes to reporting and analytics (unsurprisingly), so if you’re more focused on email campaigns over, say, snazzy product pages, you should give Mailchimp a go.
Want something affordable? It doesn’t get much better than Lander’s basic plan that costs just $16 per month. With that you can get 3 custom domains and up to 5000 visitors per month. The more affordable plan doesn’t include different integrations, but it’s a great and affordable tool option for smaller marketing campaigns.
Lander does offer a Facebook integration, so it’s actually a pretty great tool for retargeting campaigns with high conversion rates (hence the smaller number of visitors might not be a problem). However, since even the (much pricer) Professional plan offers a limit on visitors (25K per month), Lander might not be a suitable option for big marketing agencies.
Also, compared to, say, Wix or Landigi, Lander’s template designs are not quite as high quality.
KickOff Labs is another tool that seems to be specifically suitable for generating leads, with predesigned templates for giveaways, coupons, contests and referrals.
It’s got a vast range of pricing options, from 20 to 200 dollars per month, which differ mainly in the number of unique visitors allowed, number of campaigns and team members connected to the same account.
Whether you want to host a standalone single page, or integrate it with your website, involve.me allows you to do either. This is a powerful tool for boosting visitor engagement and increasing conversion rates, used by big players like Bloomberg, Salesforce and even Universal Studios. It allows you to connect payment gateways, create different types of interactive content and use integrations to create optimized workflows for your new leads.
The most surprising thing about this tool is that it’s extremely affordable. At just $19 per month for the lowest plan, it’s quite a bargain, but there’s one catch. Only the top tier plan ($149 per month) allows you to remove involve.me branding, so if you’re iffy about this, be prepared to pay quite a bit more.
Also, the lead magnet that involve.me seems to be particularly suited for are quizzes, so if you’re interested in making one, you can definitely check this service out.
Yet another great and affordable page builder, Pagewiz has been around since 2011 and served major clients such as Samsung and Chevrolet.
You get a lot for your money with this page builder. At just $25 per month, you get 2 custom domains, A/B testing, unlimited pages, real time stats and up to 5,000 unique visitors! There are 3 more pricing plans to choose from if you require more visitors.
Pagewiz page templates
It integrates well with many CRM software and has a plenty of apps available in their market. Admittedly, Pagewiz doesn’t offer the same quality of design as some of the other builders (there are over 100 templates to choose from, but a more traditional, corporate look seems to be favored).
Previously called Landen (which probably made a lot of people confuse it Lander) Umso has a slightly different approach in that you’re not given a workable template, but rather asked a series of questions which allows the builder to create a customizable page for you. If you don’t know much about design this can certainly feel like a good, easy option.
Is it affordable? Sure! Umso has a completely free plan, however this just includes the hosting. So if you need a domain and email lists, you’ll need to purchase the still very reasonable Startup plan that costs $29 per month.
Whether you end up going with it or not, Umso is a terrific place to start brainstorming your lead gen page design: it costs nothing and you’ll get a templated based on your needs and preferences!
As far as landing page builders go, Unbounce is definitely an industry leader. It allows you to create awesome and completely customized landing pages with an easy and intuitive interface. While Unbounce might be an affordable option for larger companies or agencies, its lowest price point which stands at $80 per month might be a little steep for startups or small businesses.
However, if you need a lot of landing pages (including lead generation), Unbounce can cover your needs. Be warned that plans differ on the number of conversions you’re allowed (with the lowest one you have up to 500, so this is also something else to consider).
Aside from the higher pricing, Unbounce offers a set of powerful integrations and marketing automation tools that will help your page rank high in a search engine and help make your campaign successful. From the design side, Unbounce also offers plenty of great choices, with tons of gorgeous lead gen landing page templates. If you’re unsure about the budget, you can give Unbounce a try with the 14 days free trial.
If none of these fit…
Lead generation is a very valuable marketing tactic and you should definitely give this area ample attention. In the long run, it can mean new clients for your business and, subsequently, more profit.
However, if you don’t want to plan your marketing budget around every single lead gen page you may wish to create, there’s another great solution you might want to consider.
